iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba is an entry level robot vacuum that performs well on both floors that are unfinished and carpets with low pile. It has a decent suction and can clean all kinds of debris, but it isn't able to handle larger particles like sand or rice. It is effective in cleaning pet hair but isn't as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models like the I6 and j7.
The Roomba is easy to operate. It has three buttons on the top cover. 'Clean,' which launches a cleaning session and 'Dock', which puts it in its charging station and the 'Spot' button, which triggers an individualized cleaning. You can control it via an app on your smartphone that lets you to schedule cycles, stop and start them and adjust settings. It can also be paired with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum cleaner is slower than some other models, but it can be able to reach the majority of corners and crevices. It has a big bin which makes it much easier to empty. It is compatible with digital maps and virtual barriers, which allow you to make it impossible to clean certain areas or stop cleaning altogether when you want to stop it from getting stuck on something.
While it's not the best model for its price however, it's superior to many other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694, with superior cleaning performance for carpets with low and no pile. It also follows the most efficient cleaning method and has a longer battery life. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer components that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to own over its lifetime and charges faster than the 694.
It's also worth taking a look at other models that are more expensive from the iRobot line, such as the 981 or the v7. The v7 and 981 are more expensive, but offer significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, both on low and bare pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment and charge faster, move more easily, and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on carpets with low piles and hard floors. Its combo brush reaches into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it spots carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt from carpet in the middle. The IQ's small footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you want to alter the floor level on the map, or set no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it in order to do this, which is quite trouble.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated functions, however it isn't equipped with no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing navigational system results in superior maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, although it is prone to get caught up in rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you control the robot with voice commands.
In our tests in our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of debris from floors that were robotic cleaner and mop not bare and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient with shag carpets, where it had a hard time reaching dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It was able to navigate chair legs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on bare floors however it soon recovered speed and performed more thoroughly than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery life, and is better at navigating obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky mess. The iRobot however, feels better constructed, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs fewer ongoing costs, and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning the point it started, even if its battery runs out before it's finished. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice, which can be an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it does offer great cleaning power at affordable prices. This vacuum was made for those who are budget conscious and do not require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and comes with a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that resembles polished aluminum. It's a nice departure from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy11S was extremely effective at removing large particles and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to give medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. The device has a tendency to hit furniture and people along its path. However, it can detect obstacles using sensors. If it encounters them it ceases to move and emits a loud sound so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.
The BoostIQ mode is another great feature of the eufy11S. It allows you to configure the robot to automatically adjust the suction strength based on the floor type and the level of dirt. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S where you want it to go.
If you don't have many furniture in the room you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy can spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also select Edge Cleaning which limits the time spent in each area to 20 minutes for maximum battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern by cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range canister robot vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance on carpets with no floor is also exceptional. It can remove fine debris like rice easily and doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin gets full. Its design that is allergy-friendly and sealed with air traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's still excellent for dealing with stains and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it comes with one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've ever seen. It has a large bin, a long runtime and a quick, bump-free cleanup.
Unlike most other robots, unlike most other robots, Complete C1 can switch between the standard powerhead and the turbo head for different flooring types. The turbo head is great for low-pile and high-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead can be used on unfinished floors and light carpets. It also has an automatic height adjustment system which lets it easily adjust to different kinds of flooring, without manual adjustments.

If you're willing to pay a bit more then the Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round robot vacuum that performs better on carpet than the Classic C1. It is more effective on all kinds of floors and is built more securely and comes with a HEPA filter.
