Are You Getting The Most From Your Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum?

The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum

The most effective robot vacuums that self-empty come with a base which holds an entire month's worth of debris and empty it automatically. It can create a detailed home map, allowing you identify rooms and to create "no go" zones.

It also is equipped with superior ability to avoid obstacles, meaning that it will stay clear from power cords as well as rogue sock.

Roomba s9+ from iRobot

This is a top model from iRobot and performs extremely well. It is able to maneuver easily across a variety of surfaces and is extremely effective at sucking up dirt, dust and other debris. It's also well-built, and it looks great too.

The S9 is the latest iRobot premium S Series robot vacuum. It has a few additional features that help it distinct from other models. For example the iRobot app uses the camera in this unit to create a map of your home which allows it to navigate and clean effectively.

You don't need to clean the same areas again in the event that the battery gets depleted. You can set the timer to start and stop cleaning by an audio command, or via the iRobot App. This smart vacuum can even clean in darkness!

Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting, so it can pick up even more dirt. It also features a square front design that is more close to walls and corners as opposed to the earlier round designs. This model does not work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.

During our tests, we found the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a range of floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well on vinyl, and laminate flooring. It also did a good job of navigating around objects and furniture, although it struggled a bit with stairs, where it can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.

The S9's ability to automatically return to its base and empty its dust bin once it is full was a fantastic feature. It eliminated the need for manual maintenance. The dust bag should last about 30 loads, or around one month or so, and you'll have to replace the filter every once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). We've found that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get loud during operation, so it's a good choice for people who live with kids or pets.

Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Created to take one of the most tedious tasks off your hands, robot vacuum cleaners do all the work to get carpeted and hardwood floors clear of the everyday dust. Some robot vacuum cleaners are able to be controlled by apps on smartphones, and others have mopping technology for bathrooms and kitchen flooring. They're an excellent solution for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever. But if you want top-tech features for your robotic vacuum cleaner, you'll have to spend a bit more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one vacuum and mopping machine, making it a good choice for those who live in a house with multiple floors. Its dual motors offer impressive cleaning power, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dustbin can be removed and emptied without fuss, which is useful since you'll have to do it often.

It's also simple to set it up, but I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the first time. You'll have to install the Eufy Home app and follow the instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network. After you've completed this the app will help you create a precise map of your home. You can name rooms or divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at a specific time. There are many other robots that have similar scanning and mapping functions, but Eufy's application feels more refined and intuitive than other models.

One of the best features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can activate the vacuum or mop with your voice thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot even more hands-free. It also works well in our test house.

As with many robotic vacuums the X8 Hybrid has some issues with bare floors. It is prone to be unable to see pet hair or small objects, and it is prone to hit things - such as its own charger that sits on its base of its charging. It's not as quiet and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S Pro

The robot doesn't come with the same number of features as the more expensive models we tested, however it does have the basics covered. It has a large dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before needing to be cleaned. The mop and vacuum system is ideal for hard floors and carpets with low pile. It's also quiet. We could watch TV while it cleaned without feeling as though we were being bombarded with noise.

Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to set up and use, and they were amazed by its ability to take all the messes off their flooring. It did a good job cleaning pet hair, messes, and carpeting, but it had a harder time getting rid of stains that were stubborn. The app was simple to use and easy to understand. They could program the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to reduce the amount of manual work. The only drawback is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance, which means you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips are compatible).

The V3S Pro is another model from the iRobot's budget line. It has many impressive features at a reasonable price. It was the most efficient robot vacuum in our tests to avoid obstacles and map them. It's also a great budget option for those seeking a smarter, self-emptying robotic vacuum that is able to handle hair and pet messes on hardwood floors or low-pile carpeting. It's also extremely quiet and has a huge dust bin that can hold a lot before it has to be empty.

The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choice lists from reliable sources that conduct hands-on tests, however it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was simple to use and set up, but the battery life was not long.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is a solid entry-level robot vacuum and mop that doesn't skimp on features or price. You can avail many of the high-end features, like smart navigation and mapping without paying top dollar. You can also use voice commands through Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations and begin your cleaning routine from anywhere while you're away.

Roborock has spent time in the development of this clever cleaner. The product is extremely well-built, and it feels like premium materials were used to make it. Its base is sturdy and solid, and has an integrated charging port for the battery. On top, you'll find the dock for the clean water tank and dirty water bins. There's also a panel beneath the dock that houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.

When you connect your device to the app, you'll see an interactive map of your home that shows the exact location where your robot is in and the area it's cleaning. You can also design virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn't in certain areas or only clean certain kinds of flooring. It's also able to adjust its power settings based on the kind of floor being cleaned, and choosing the most efficient method of cleaning.

The Q Revo is unique to many other robot vacuums due to the fact that it can lift both of its mop heads while vacuuming. This prevents carpet fibres from being stained. It's one of the few vacuums that can do this.

When it comes to mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction powers are enough to suck up specks robot cleaner and mop of dust or pet hair strands and other particles. The all-rubber brush is able to disentangle human and animal hair, as it adjusts to uneven surfaces.

Its only downside is that it takes a while to fill and empty the clean and dirty water tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature that will automatically empty the container after a couple of days. It is still necessary to check the level of water in the dock manually though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
